Always designed with the patient in mind, these technologies provide less discomfort and better, speedier outcomes for people who need crowns, bridges or implants.

This month, Huszti Dental Care becomes the first practice in Michigan (we think) with a Medit i700, one of the newest, coolest pieces of technology to come along in recent years. It is replacing the practice’s i500 that fundamentally changed the way crown, bridge and implant treatments are done.

This machine eliminates the need for the gag-inducing impression trays – remember holding that tray of what felt like putty in your mouth for minutes on end? No more! The Medit i700 intraoral scanner is a wand about the size of a toothbrush that a clinician moves along your teeth to capture an extremely detailed image of the inside of your mouth. As it is captured, the 3-D image is projected on a monitor next to the chair, to ensure a thorough job is done.

In the old days, dentists would use the impression to make a plaster cast, which would be used to make crowns, bridges and other restorations. Sometimes that could take weeks.

With this new technology, the doctors simply email the images to their labs where technicians use computers to design the implant to very detailed specifications. The resulting implant fits better and looks more real. All of this is done in less time and with less discomfort than ever before.

The investment in the Medit i700 is significant, but Huszti Dental Care feels the improved outcomes for the people of Milford and Highland will be well worth it.

Plus, at least for the doctors and the staff, it’s a lot of fun to work with.
