Replacing a missing tooth is important, and easy!

At Huszti Dental Care, we see patients all the time with missing teeth.

It’s heartbreaking to hear their stories of living for years with missing teeth because they thought it would be expensive to fix or they were afraid it would be a lot of work. Over those years, had to learn to chew differently and, in some cases, talk differently. But what’s sadder, is that people with a missing tooth learned to hide their smiles and lost confidence. That doesn’t have to be the case.

People lose teeth for all sorts of reasons – cavities and gum disease are two that can be caught early by regular visits to Huszti Dental Care. Accidents also can lead to tooth loss, but so can diseases, like diabetes, that you may think don’t have anything to do with oral health. It’s for these reasons we encourage our Milford and Highland neighbors to see a dentist regularly.

If you do lose a tooth, it’s not the end of the world, and technologies and updated methods make restoration painless and permanent. One of those ways is also the one we do the most often here: single dental implants.

There are many advantages to this procedure. It looks and works like a natural tooth and doesn’t harm the health of surrounding teeth, which is necessary to support a bridge. In addition, gums can recede around a bridge and they can be difficult to keep clean, potentially leading to more oral health problems.

A single implant starts with a screw or cylinder placed into your jaw. This implant and bone bond for several months to form a secure anchor for the artificial tooth that will be placed over the implant. A temporary tooth can be worn during this time. When the dentist determines the anchor is set, the permanent replacement – called a crown – is created and placed to blend seamlessly into your bite.

Some systems use an implant which already has the extension piece attached. The Huszti Dental Care team will help you make the decision as to which one is best for your situation.

When completed, no one will ever know you have an implant and speaking, chewing and smiling is just like it used to be.

We are happy to discuss the best option with you in our practice on Milford Road, where we have been for almost 20 years now, serving the oral health needs of our Milford and Highland neighbors.
