Milford and Highland events designed to make summer special

The beach at Kensington is one of the many gems of a summer in Milford and Highland.

More than 25 years ago, when Drs. Bill Huszti and Anna Chong-Huszti were looking for the right spot to open a dental practice, they looked all over metropolitan Detroit. There were many options at that time, some practices were vibrant, others were in unique settings, others were large and growing. But none of them felt right.

Until they came to Milford.

The practice they purchased here was founded in the 1940s and was well-established, the patients loyal and welcoming. But what really sold them was the community of Milford.

“We knew we had found the right place,” Dr. Huszti said. “It just felt right.”

They loved the small town feel, the open fields and the parks and felt it was not just the right place to open a practice, it was the right place to build their family.

“It was important to us that we live in the community where we work,” Chong-Huszti said. “We wanted to become part of the community and we knew Milford and Highland was the kind of place where we could do that.

Over the years Huszti Dental Care has embedded itself in the community, not only with their offices in The Huszti Building on Milford Road, but also by supporting local businesses and sponsoring many events over the years.

Summer officially kicks off on Memorial Day, and that’s when you’ll see Milford and Highland at its best.

It starts off with a traditional parade that brings people from far and wide to Main Street to salute veterans. Three separate music festivals bring people together all summer long as do other events like the annual sidewalk sale, Milford Memories, July 4 parade, home tour, car show, ladies’ night out and more.

Milford’s Summer Fun Schedule

And don’t forget to support local farmers and businesses at the Milford Farmers’ Market. For a complete list of Milford events, click here.

Highland Township also has its share of events, starting with three cemetery ceremonies on Memorial Day back on the docket after being cancelled by the pandemic. Fireworks on June 25, a summer concert series and the Haven Hill Festival offer something for everyone. Check out the details here.

And then there’s all the hiking, swimming, golfing (disk and regular!), movies, picnicking and more at Kensington Metropark. Even when there’s not an event, it’s still one of the best spots in metro Detroit to just relax and become one with nature.

At any of these events or places, you’ll see staff or doctors from Huszti Dental Care enjoying family time.

It’s what makes Milford so special. It’s what makes Milford home. See you there!
